wide open sea
On friday i sailed with 2 other boats to Dassen island and anchored the night there. what a surprise to wake up with your house in a new place and a penguin waving from the beach. Also saw lots of seals, dolphins, birds and 2 sharks on the way. It felt so great to have done this that i even started washing the mouldy dishes in my flat after resisting for 2 months!

about last night
Dear blob
last night i had a bit of extra excitement. as if the last few days of sailing and too many people weren't enough. i hit a car. we hit a car. that is my trusty moto-cycle and i. an imbecilic dumb moronic earthling stopped their car dead in the middle of the road on THE OTHER SIDE of the traffic light in the fast line on a dark windswept road. That surely deserves a prize.
It happened in a split second. I was travelling at light speed - max of 85km/h - to beat a new traffic light and for once not very aware after a long day (a bit spaced out myself). And the car in front of me just stopped dead after crossing the intersection. Maybe they felt guilty for not stopping at the red traffic light and thought they'd make up for it by doing so on the other side of it. I'm very happy they make cars like spaceships these days, round and with lots of big curved break..brake lights. That and the fact that it was one of these small fullbody hatchbacks probably saved me. We braked and swerved, as best a still alive and innocent soft alien could do in 2 seconds, facing steel entry wounds. I'm afraid we must've still hit it at 15 meters a second. my moto took half the hit lower down against it's immobile corner and my upper body smashed into it's brakelight array higher up. Or so i think because i wasn't taking notes at that stage, just hanging on for dear life.
I couldn't believe it when we were still upright after the unholy crunch. Alas we were wobbling at good speed towards the back of a huge truck in the left hand lane. In my effort to stay in the bucking saddle, i was opening the throttle full tilt at the same time as pulling down hard on both brakes. my brain couldn't figure out this novel sound of combined full brake and throttle. I can't really recall how me managed to miss the truck. I must have let go of the throttle and the truck must have been going at enough of a speed to escape a second encounter of steel and wheel.
I did a quick body parts and fluids check and was amazed we were still intact after having just bounced of a car and underneath a truck. I thought of stopping but there was nowhere to get off the road. Also what was i going to do about this? shout at the imbecile. We just drove home as fast as we could and tried to think if this could mean something.

saloon table
At last; i am able to sit in my boat living room at a table, the table - that also forms a big double bed by the way.

end of the beginning
30 months before we started in a garden a long way to the north. Yesterday I did my first single-handed sail with Lila in the bay. Relieved and happy. There was about a 15kn breeze. Her new non-slip deck works and looks sexy ;-)
Anyone interested in coming along for a trip around the world?
Been having quite raw and symbolic dreams these last few weeks. something's coming .. or should?

waters of time
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh.
i am trapped. can somebody help???
when the master is ready the student will disappear.
a koan. can you help wonderer who reads this? you who are a mirror, a fragment like me.
how to walk through the mirror? where is the magic theatre now? I am lost, but not mad enough.
Are you .... master?

april's flu
i am sick as a dog since monday. Flu.
Last night i had an interesting dream which i know my friend Jan will enjoy.
I was somewhere in a castle or fortress of some kind. word was that the pope would speak inside. I positioned myself at one of the entrances and to my suprise suddenly the pope and his attendants arrived fortuitusly at that side entrance. He looked heavy set and bald and around his body i was suprised to see a quite distinct and flowing aura, light-blue in colour. As he passed close to me I smiled at him both obeisantly and superiorly but he seemed not to notice.

here we are
I am in d'schwiiz. Met friends. Meditated. Love.
Among the maxims on Lord Naoshige's wall there was this one: Matters of great concern should be treated lightly. Master Ittei wrote: Matters of small concern should be treated seriously.- Hagakure text from movie Ghost Dog

life's a stage
.... So that you’re open to hear something, you know most of us are not open most of the time, we pretend that we are open, but mostly you’re running your own dramatic event of which you are the hero or the heroine. Usually that’s what we are doing most of the time.- leonard cohen

shiny new deck under a cold starry sky
Today we painted kayalila's deck with polurethane. She looks like a different boat. Yesterday she also looked very executive with her grey primercoat - a bit like a new navy kit model boat. It isn't the final coat but at least she's protected now until i decide what non-skid surface to put on.

losing focus
Lately i'm struggling to focus when i interact with people. I find it all so boring. No marrow, no truth, no awareness. in them... in me. life fades in and out. i'm hungry for the unusual, for disolving illusions, for bare feet in a cafe on a greek isle. come baby.
could we ...
I wanted that immediate affirmation of the, what can I call it, just the possibility of escaping from the loneliness, the sexual loneliness, just the pure loneliness of being, of living with that appetite. The pure loneliness of living with an appetite that you couldn’t ever satisfy. That nearly drives everybody crazy that drives all men crazy. So of course, it drove me crazy too, so of course that’s what I wanted. So it seemed to be that’ s all that I wanted, anything after that I was ready to negotiate, but that seemed to be what I wanted.
And I was very fortunate because it was the 60’s, and it was very possible. And for a tiny moment in social history there was a tremendous cooperation between men and women about that particular item. I think it lasted maybe 15 or 20 minutes, but it was a great deal of compassion and understanding where the woman understood what you wanted, though it might not be her priority, and you understood what the woman wanted, even though it might not have been your priority. And all this was unspoken, and it was a tremendous generosity, people somehow, for 15-20 minutes in the entire history of men and women, when this agreement flourished, and like all agreements it wasn’t a contractual, it wasn’t written and understood, it was just embraced. So I was just very lucky that my appetite coincidented with this very rare religious, social… I don’t know what you call it, but that allowed men and women, boys and girls we were, to come together in a union that satisfied both.
The young are threatened with disease now and many kinds of fears about their lives, quite justified. For one reason or the other we live with the notion of fear now. That definitely does interfere with all our associations, not only sexually or romantic, social, international, racial – the sense of fear is very very present – the sense that if you are not very very careful you’re gonna get taken.
